Hey

I'm David Sanders

Through technology, photography, film, and VFX, I express my creative vision. My greatest joy is when my finished work leaves a lasting impression and inspiration in each one of us.

About me

Developer & VFX Artist - Czechia

I am a detail-oriented software developer with a passion for creative work, constantly pushing my own limits. But my curiosity doesn't end with code. From wildlife photography and VFX to mountain biking, tennis, calisthenics, and aquascaping, I seek the same thing: the joy of mastering my craft. Every project I take on is built through patience, persistence, and a borderline sense of detail.

My philosophy

More than just a composition

Every shot I take is born from patience. I always look for that invisible bond between light, subject, and time. That spark which turns an image into something that stays with you. Because every single moment never repeats itself, yet it will live on preserved forever.

Narrative

Narrative

Great photograph doesn’t necessarily have to be perfect; quite the opposite. From my perspective, the magic of a good photo lies in the story that even a single shot can tell.

Emotion

Emotion

Technique and editing provide the frame, but emotions are what define how the viewer feels it. I look for those moments that reveal the true beauty of life.

Detail

Detail

The importance of light, timing, angle, and the subject's posture itself. Seemingly insignificant details, on the contrary, are key to me as each plays the key role.

Vision

Vision

I see the final shot before I even pick up the camera. Through visualization and imagination, I define the path from the very first shutter click to the final edit.

Chasing golden hour in the streets of Prague

David SandersBy David SandersApr 3, 2026Prague, CZ5 min read

A walk through the old city just after sunset — how I found light in unexpected places and what gear I brought along. From the cobblestones glowing under fading sun to the long shadows of Charles Bridge, this one is about patience, observation, and trusting the moment when it finally arrives. A few frames came back exactly as I had imagined them.

Compositing a short film from scratch

My full workflow for taking a simple green-screen shoot to a cinematic composite — from tracking to colour grade. I break down the camera-solve setup, the layering decisions in Nuke, how I integrate CG passes without crushing the plate, and the small touches in grade that make the final shot feel like it was filmed on location instead of stitched together in post.

Building a nature aquarium that breathes on its own

David SandersBy David SandersFeb 22, 2026Brno, CZ6 min read

Layout, hardscape, plant selection — the slow craft of growing an underwater landscape that runs in balance with almost no maintenance. I walk through the substrate stack, the rock placement rules I keep coming back to, the first weeks of algae management, and why patience beats every shortcut when you're trying to build something that will look better six months from now than it does on day one.
